Event: North Island Champs

Date: 29th-30th March 2008

Venue: Hawkes Bay

Conditions: The club did a great job with the track considering it’s in the middle of a drought. The track was pretty tacky and perfect conditions most of the weekend.

Bike Performance: The bike was great and the settings we had worked perfectly.

Support Products:  It was the first time we have needed to use soft tyres in a while. The Bridgestone 202 tyres worked great and helped me to get the best starts I’ve had in a long time. Huge thanks to Avon and Vicky at McDonald Equipment for the help upgrading our tools and toolbox. Makes a big difference to Dad especially and looks good.

Results: 125: 1st Overall. Race 1:1st  Race 2: 1st   Race 3: 1st  Race 4: 1st  Race 5: 1st

Event Report: I have always liked this track and it’s a lot of fun with all its natural jumps. It was a great weekend because I was fastest in my class in every session and won all the races comfortably (the first moto by over 40 seconds). I am confident in my riding now and I just need to sustain my speed and keep up my training for Nationals in 4 weeks time.

Up Coming Events: New Zealand Champs 25-28 April. Otorohanga

Venue: Pukekohe

Date: 15-16 Mar 08

Conditions: The club watered and ripped the track heaps so it was really wet to start with but then dried out completely. The track was so hard pack at the end of the day the tires were making black marks on the track!

Bike Performance: The bike was great and the new Bridgestone 404 tyres are working great in my starts and right throughout the race. Thanks Jimmy for an awesome bike. This ones the best yet.
 
Support Products:  Thanks a lot to Mary for the new 2008 Smith Goggles and Tear Off Systems. They are exactly what I needed in the mud.  We have gone back to Pro Circuit pipe and silencer rather than the stock front pipe.

Results: 125: 1st Overall. Race 1: 2nd  Race 2: 1st   Race 3: 1st  

Event Report: It was an awesome weekend and the track was real cool with heaps of jumps. There was a fair bit of hype before the race about a local rider who everyone favoured to win my class. I managed to reel him in and pass him in the 2nd race and he was no where to be seen in the 3rd race. Really happy with my riding speed and fitness at the moment so bring on Nationals!

This year I only managed to compete in 3 of the 4 rounds of the SuperX nationals because of an injury just before the 3rd round in Tokoroa. I raced at the Motueka round, the Auckland round and my home event in Wanganui. SuperX is some of the most enjoyable riding you can do in my opinion! I did have a bit of bad luck this year though.Down in Motueka I got some dirt in my carburetor which was causing the bike to miss a bit so I was forced to DNF one of the moto’s which put my points behind from the very beginning of the series!

Auckland was an awesome track with a couple of really big jumps which were a lot of fun! I had some bad starts and made some silly mistakes which cost me but anyone that has ever raced SuperX in the dark will know that it’s always a great experience anyway!
The final round in my hometown of Wanganui was good fun but I had more troubles there with crashes in the first turn. I had the fastest times in nearly all my sessions so I was happy with that!

Anyone that has never tried SuperX has got to give it a go. It’s great for all your riding skills and especially your confidence!

Event - Woodville Grand Prix

Venue - Woodville

Conditions - It was pretty hot all day but they had watered and groomed the track so it was tacky and fast most of the day. The track was really rutted so they groomed it about 5 times during the day.

Bike Performance - The bike was working better than ever and felt really comfortable on it.

Support Products - We used the new Bridgestone 403 and 404’s for the first time.  Even though the track changed from wet in the morning to hard pack in the afternoon they were really good on both conditions.

Results - 125: 1st Overall.  Race 1: 1st, Race 2: 2nd, Race 3: 2nd

Event Report - I was teh fastest rider in my class and felt comfortable at that speed.  I did what I needed to do and could still have pushed harder if I needed to.

Up Coming Events - Valley Champs February

Event - NZ Super X Champs
Venue - Rat Track, Motueka

Conditions - Sunny and extremly hot both days.  The track was mostly new this year so it was a lot of fun and a good challenge having some new jumps to try.

Bike Performance - The bike was working really well going from Motocross to Supercross.  Great bottom end power to get me out of the corners and over the jumps.  In one of the races a little bit of water must have made its way into the carburetor, causing it to miss, Dad had it sorted for the next race though.

Support Products - My Pro Circuit pipes were perfect for giving me the power needed and my Smith Goggles and tear off system worked like a charm.

Results - 125: 5th Overall.  Race 1: 5th, Race 2: 5th, Race 3: 6th

Event Report - SuperX is always a lot of fun and this round proved no different.  The track was very wet on Sunday morning but dried right out relatively fast.  Struggling a bit with the older guy’s the way the classes are but it’s all good.
